Batley dad killed own three-year-old son in 100mph crash after racing down M62

A dad who was racing at more than 100mph on a motorway before crashing and killing his three-year-old son has been convicted of death by dangerous driving.

Israr Muhammed, 41, was travelling in a Honda Civic with his family of five on July 1, 2018, when he began racing along the M62 with another Civic driver.

At times during the chase the vehicles were just metres apart, a court heard, before Muhammed lost control and went careering over the embankment and into trees.

The defendant, from Batley, West Yorkshire was today (Thurs) convicted by a jury at Hull Crown Court following a nine day trial.

The other driver, 29-year-old Adam Molloy from Normanton, failed to stop at the scene on the day of the collision.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Molloy too was found guilty on all counts.
