Biker in his 50s killed in head-in collision on country lane in Wigglesworth near Skipton

A biker has been killed in a head-on collision with a car near Skipton on Wednesday.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the crash between a red Ducati motorcycle and a Vauxhall Astra on Jack Lane in Wigglesworth, near Skipton, at 11.14am.

.The car was heading north towards Settle and the bike was travelling south from Rathmell to Wigglesworth when they collided on the country lane.

The biker, a man in his 50s from Blackburn, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been named but his family have been informed.

The woman driving the car, aged in her 60s and from the Ribble Valley area of East Lancashire, suffered shock. Her passenger, a woman aged in her 80s, received hospital treatment for a leg injury not believed to be serious.

The stretch of road between Long Preston Station and the A65 turn-off for Rathmell remained closed until 10.55pm while police collision investigators worked at the scene and to allow the damaged vehicles to be safely recovered.
