Boy, 11, loses fight for life following accident in which 10-year-old friend died

Humberside Police said Mason Deakin died in hospital on Monday with his family by his side.

Mason had been out on a bike with his friend Steven Duffield, 10, who died in hospital, after they were hit by a car on October 19.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: "We send our heartfelt condolences to Mason’s family and friends as they come to terms with their tragic loss.

"Our specially trained officers continue to support Mason’s family and also Steven Duffield’s family during this difficult time."

Previously police have said a 30-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of driving offences, had been released under investigation.

Investigations into the collision continue and witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage are asked to contact police.
