Bradford man stabbed at music event in Blackpool

A MAN from Bradford was taken to hospital after being stabbed at a music event in Blackpool.

The 30-year-old man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with minor stab wounds after being attacked at the Pier Jam gig on the North Pier just before 10.45pm on Saturday night, amid reports of a fight.

A 15-year-old boy from Manchester suffered similar injuries, along with a 23-year-old from Manchester, who is in a ‘poorly but stable’ condition.

Two men aged 20 and 26 from Manchester have been arrested on suspicion of wounding and attempted murder and remained in custody on Sunday.

A knife has been recovered.

Det insp Gareth Willis, of Blackpool CID, said: “This was an extremely seriously incident which could easily have cost at least one young man his life.

“Around 2,000 people are thought to have attended this event and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us.”

One witness said: “The event staff and onsite paramedics were phenomenal and definitely saved this guy’s life.”

Pier Jam is a series of electronic dance music festivals held on the pier throughout the summer.

Saturday’s event was labelled as the closing party, with 3,500 people expected to attend.

Acts on the main Terrace Stage included Darius Syrossian, Santé, Sidney Charles, Heidi, Huxley and Infinity Ink, while on the Sunset Stage, 99 Souls, Karma Kid, Ms Dynamite and Zinc performed.

The event’s website advises it is only open to those aged over 18 and that ID will be asked for on entry.
