Child cyclist dead and another critically injured after being knocked off their bikes by driver

A 10-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a driver in Hull yesterday evening (Monday).

It happened on the flyover on Anlaby Road, near to the junction with Selby Street.

Another boy on a bike was also hit by the blue BMW driver shortly after 6pm.

Both boys were taken to hospital, but one of them died a short time later.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The other boy remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences in connection with the crash and remains in police custody.

Officers from the serious collisions unit are appealing for anyone who saw anything related to the crash, or anyone who has dashcam footage, to get in touch.
