Family still hold out hope of finding missing businessman

Michael Lee, of Grimsby, who would now be 78, made his last phone call on March 7, 2011 to cancel a hair appointment and the newspapers.

The former Lees Furnishers director was reported missing on March 16 and has not been seen or heard of since.

His older brother John said he thought about him every day, wondering what he was doing, and hoping that he will get in touch.

Mr Lee said: “It has now been three years since a member of our family, or one of Michael’s friends saw him or spoke to him.

“Not a day goes by that we don’t all think of him and hope that when that phone rings, or the door opens, it will be him.

“The family are all in complete limbo, this really is out of character for Michael and we don’t know why he would want to leave his life in Grimsby with all his friends and family.

“We would like some answers so please anyone who may have seen Michael and think they know where he is call the police.

“No matter how big or small that information might be then please come forward.”

Despite extensive inquiries and public appeals, there have been no fresh clues or leads into the businessman’s “totally out of character” disappearance.

Police think the keen golfer, described as a very private man with a lot of close friends, left in his blue Mercedes C220. His car was captured on camera on a main road leaving the town.

Born in Grimsby, Mr Lee, who lived in the Bargate area, was an honorary member of Grimsby Golf Club, as well as a member of Woodhall Spa Golf Club. When he was younger he played golf competitively for Lincolnshire, the Midland Counties and even England on one occasion.

He worked for a firm of 
accountants before joining the 
family firm more than 25 years ago.

Humberside Police said despite there being no new sightings or information, the investigation was still open and any small piece of information was vital to helping locate him.
