Father-of-two solicitor shot dead in Bramall Lane, Sheffield

A man shot dead in Sheffield on Saturday night has been named by locals as 30-year-old father-of-two Khuram Javed.

The University of Sheffield law graduate, who is believed to have worked as a solicitor at a law firm on London Road, was fatally shot close to Bramall Lane on Saturday evening.

South Yorkshire Police were called to Clough Road, near Bramall Lane at around 9.40pm yesterday, following reports of shots fired.

Police attended the scene where they discovered a man with life-threatening injuries consistent with firearms discharge.

Mr Javed was sadly pronounced dead the scene.

Pakistan Muslim Centre's Allama Iqbal Sunday Cricket League posted a tribute on their Facebook page.

It said: "It is with great sadness to inform you that our beloved brother Khuram Javed has returned to Allah. Can you please make dua (a prayer) that Allah grants Khuram janat al firdos (the highest paradise) and gives his family sabr (patience)."

A police cordon remains in place around St Mary's Gate towards Bramall Lane and a police tent and screen have been put up.
