Former Humberside Police officer posed as a teenage boy online and forced young girls to send him naked pictures

A former Humberside Police officer who forced young girls to send him naked pictures of themselves online by pretending to be a teenage boy is to face a misconduct hearing.

Former PC Gareth Richards pleaded guilty to a total of 14 sexual offences against children and was jailed for a total of five years and four months when he appeared at Hull Crown Court back in December 2020.

The offences included causing a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to watch a sexual act and making indecent images of children.

The force has confirmed the former officer will face a misconduct hearing, which will be held at the Old Magistrate's Building in Goole on Monday, May 10.

"The case concerns former police constable 2190 Gareth Richards.

"It is alleged that his conduct breached the standards of professional behaviour."
