Gunmen hunted after
shots fired at house

DETECTIVES yesterday appealed for information and witnesses after an early evening incident which saw gunshots fired at a house in a quiet residential street.

Officers said the incident happened between 6.30pm and 6.35pm in Cantley Lane, Cantley, Doncaster, when a car pulled up at the roadside and two people jumped out.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “One of the pair, carrying a shotgun, went on to the property’s driveway and discharged the weapon towards the house, which contained eight people, including children. No-one was injured, but the occupants were left shaken and damage was caused to front windows.

“Following the attack, the pair ran back to the car and drove back along Cantley Lane towards the roundabout at the junction with Goodison Boulevard.”

Police were called to the house after the shooting last Sunday evening. Scenes of crime officers also examined the area and six shotgun shells were recovered.

Police said they believed the incident was a targeted attack. Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on non-emergency number 101.
