Inquest to be held into death of mother of the bride Judith Wadsworth at the Coniston Hotel

An inquest will be held into the death of grandmother Judith Wadsworth in the grounds of the hotel where her daughter's wedding was being held.

The 66-year-old from Baildon was struck by a Range Rover in the car park of the Coniston Hotel, near Skipton, on February 7. The wedding ceremony was subsequently cancelled.

The hotel's director Nick Bannister, whose parents have owned the Coniston Hall estate since the 1960s, was arrested in connection with Judith's death and remains under investigation while forensic analysis is completed.

An inquest was opened and adjourned today (August 19) at County Hall in Northallerton.

Assistant coroner for North Yorkshire Jonathan Heath gave the cause of death as head and chest injuries. Mrs Wadsworth died at the scene.

The full inquest will be heard at a later date.
