Leeds: Police search for weapon in Leeds murder probe

Police were today searching for a weapon as an investigation continued into the suspected murder of a man in a street in Leeds.

Officers were combing the area around where the 24-year-old man was fatally injured in Lincoln Green in the early hours of Saturday.

Police were called to reports that the victim was lying in Lincoln Green Road at about 2.05am.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, but died of his injuries.

The cause of death has not yet been revealed, although a post mortem was due to take place on Saturday.

Meanwhile, detectives were continuing to question a man arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 28-year-old, from Leeds, was arrested in the Paddock area of Huddersfield at about 11.25am.

West Yorkshire Police say they believe the victim and the suspect were known to each other and are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident at this time.

Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, who is leading the investigation, has appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Lincoln Green Road, which was closed for most of Saturday while police investigated, is now open.
