Man arrested over Northallerton stabbing incident

A MAN police were pursuing in connection with a stabbing in Northallerton has been apprehended.

Jonathon Michael Doherty, 36, was arrested in Northallerton yesterday following a stabbing incident in Northallerton on December 17.

He is currently in police custody for questioning.

Officers thanked members of the public who called in with information, and the media for their assistance in publicising the appeal.

A 34-year-old local man was admitted to hospital with none life-threatening injuries to his back which required surgery, following the incident.

Officers believe it was a targeted and isolated incident in which the wider community were not at risk.
