A man has made off with a quantity of cash from a South Yorkshire betting shop after threatening staff with a knife.

It happened last night (Thursday) at 9.50pm at the Betfred shop on Northern Avenue in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police say a man went into the shop with what is believed to have been a knife and threatened members of staff, before making off with a quantity of cash.

He is described as white, short build, wearing a navy blue coat with the hood up and something covering his face.

No-one was hurt or injured in the incident.

Police are currently investigating the incident and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the reported robbery, or who was in the area at the time.
