Man stopped by police on Covid-19 patrol punched officer and spat blood in his face and mouth

A man who was stopped by police on a routine Covid-19 patrol attacked an officer, punching him in the face and then spitting blood in his face and mouth.

The man was stopped by officers in Hull city centre on Thursday morning.

They carried out the relevant checks on him, before he attacked one of the officers, punching him to the face and then spitting at him.

He also ripped one of the officer's vests.

The man was arrested and taken to Clough Road Police Station, where he attacked a detention officer.
