Motorcyclist dies after collision with car 'on wrong side of road' near Hull

A driver has been arrested following a crash on Tuesday morning in which a motorcyclist died.

Humberside Police said there were reports that a dark silver Vauxhall Astra went onto the wrong side of Staithes Road, near Preston, colliding with the motorcyclist on a blue Yamaha.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene. His family are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The car driver has been arrested in connection with the collision, including on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He remains in custody.

The road was closed until 3.30pm to allow for an examination of the scene by investigators

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision, the vehicles prior to the collision or anyone nearby behaving in a suspicious manner after the collision to call 101.
