A number of the teenagers were involved in the assault and were described as predominantly white males, with one suspect described as mixed race.

They are believed to be aged around 16 to 17 years old.

Police Constable Rhiannon Sykes, of Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The victim was acting on wider community concerns and has spoken to the group to try and encourage them move on from the area.

“He has been the victim of a sustained attack by some members of this group which has left him extremely shaken.

“It may be that certain members of the group did not agree with the actions of their associates and we would urge them to come forward either to police directly or anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers.
