Police investigate ‘suspicious’ death of woman in her 60s at York home as one arrested

Police have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead in her York home and police are treating it as “suspicious”.

Just before 11:30am on Thursday (May 8), a woman was found dead in a home on Albert Street, in York.

North Yorkshire Police called the death “suspicious” as they launched an investigaiton.

A 53-year-old man was rested in connection with the investigation and is being held in custody for questioning.

A police spokesperson said: “We believe it was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community.

“Nevertheless, we have stepped up reassurance patrols in the area while our enquiries continue at the scene.

“Anyone with information about the incident should contact North Yorkshire Police immediately on 101.
