Police investigating fatal Otley crash which killed 22-year-old woman

A 22-year-old woman has been killed in a crash near Otley.

It happened at about 6pm on Thursday, June 18 on Brame Lane (B6451) near to Stainburn Forest, north of Otley.

A blue Vauxhall Corsa was travelling from the A59 towards Otley when it left the road.

The rear seat passenger of the car, a 22-year-old woman from Watford, was killed in the collision.

The front seat passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Teddington, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said the 24-year-old woman is making a good recovery.

The driver of the Corsa, a 23-year-old man from Liverpool, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

He is now assisting the police investigation.

The road was closed for more than six hours to allow emergency services to attend to the casualties and for collision investigators to examine the scene.

It reopened just after midnight.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, saw the vehicle prior to the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the car before or after it left the road should dial 101, press 2 and ask to speak to TS Adam Elliott or TC Gemma Brett.
