Police launch appeal after swastikas spray painted on families' front doors and cars

Police have launched an appeal after swastikas were spray painted on two families' homes.

The incidents happened on Bilton Lane and Trefoil Drive in Harrogate between 8pm on January 24 and 11am on January 25.

Both houses have been defaced, with a swastika being painted on the front doors, a garage door and on one of the victim's cars.

Another car was damaged with a red line.

The swastika symbol is strongly associated with Nazism and antisemitism following World War II and the Holocaust.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "This is an abhorrent image and one that has caused the victim considerable distress.

"As such, officers are requesting the public’s assistance to help and are appealing to anyone who has any information, in particular anyone on the two roads that might have doorbell or household CCTV cameras, to contact the police.
