Police make three more arrests over Hull double murder

Detectives investigating the murders of two men whose bodies were found in a back garden in Hull today made three further arrests.

Phillip Simmons, 38, of May Street, in the city, appeared before magistrates earlier this week charged with robbery and the murder of 52-year-old Daniel Hatfield and 49-year-old Matthew Higgins.

The victims’ bodies were found in a garden behind 7, May Street, Hull, last Friday evening.

They had suffered significant multiple injuries

Police said a 42-year-old man and two women aged 32 and 33 were arrested earlier today.

They have been held on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

A 36-year-old woman remains on police bail until a date next month.

Police continue to appeal for information.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Tony Cockerill said: “As our enquiries continue we would urge anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.”
