Police name 10-year-old boy who died and friend who was seriously hurt

Police have named the 10-year-old boy who died following a horrific accident in Hull on Monday evening.

Steven Duffield was killed after being hit by a blue BMW while he was riding a bike alongside his best friend on Anlaby Road.

Both boys were taken to hospital where Steven sadly died.

The other boy, named by his family as 11-year-old Mason Deakin, suffered serious injuries.

Police said on Thursday that Mason is now in a stable, no longer life-threatening condition.

A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of driving offences has been released under investigation.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: "Steven’s family continue to receive support at this difficult time from our specially trained officers and are grateful for all the messages of the love and support pouring in from the public."

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage which can help with their inquiries into the accident on Anlaby Road at 6.10pm on Monday.
