Registered sex offender who babysat for young children, despite court order banning him from doing so, is jailed

A registered sex offender who continued to babysit young children, despite a court order preventing him from doing so, has been sent to prison for three years.

Barry Reddish, 52, formerly of Roughwood Road, Rotherham, repeatedly breached his sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) by looking after a number of children, all aged under 16 and unsupervised, between October 2019 and January 2020.

Reddish was arrested on March 30, last year and later charged with three counts of breaching a SHPO.

He appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Detective Constable Rachel Watts, from South Yorkshire Police said: "I welcome this sentencing.

“Reddish had brazenly continued to have contact with children under the age of 16 despite the terms set in his SHPO.

“I am pleased that he is now behind bars, off the streets and not a risk to the local community for the next three years.”
