Slaithwaite Moor fire: Ten Yorkshire fire crews work to put out moorland blaze

Firefighters worked to put out a fire on Slaithwaite Moor on Wednesday afternoon (March 9).

Ten fire engines assembled at Coal Gate, Slaithwaite, to fight the blaze, alongside specialist wildfire units.

“We currently have 10 fire engines in attendance at a moorland fire at Coal Gate, Slaithwaite,” West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted at approximately 2.15pm on Wednesday.

By 3.30pm, the fire service announced it was “damping down” at the moor, with units from Todmorden and Slaithwaite still in attendance at the scene.
