A FORMER top children’s doctor from Leeds General Infirmary has been charged with possessing class A drugs.

Consultant paediatric neurologist Colin Ferrie has been charged with possession of cocaine as well as possession of class C drug GHB.

The 52-year-old, of Waters Walk, Apperley Bridge, Bradford, who resigned after the allegations came to light, will appear in court along with Scott Pendlebury, aged 26, of Daisy Fields, Bradford, who has been charged with the same two offences.

Both men have been bailed to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 18.

West Yorkshire Police launched an investigation after claims made by the Mail on Sunday newspaper about Dr Ferrie’s alleged drug taking.

A 23-year-old man, from Bradford, who was also arrested as part of the investigation, has been released from his bail and will face no further action.

Another man, thought to be a Mail on Sunday reporter, who was interviewed under caution after voluntarily attending at a police station, will face no further action.
