Two men to stand trial for hunting with a dog in Chapel Haddlesey, North Yorkshire

Two men are due to stand trial accused of hunting hares with a dog in Chapel Haddlesey, Selby.

Thomas Agar McDonald, 33, and John Alan Langan, 34, are both accused of hunting a wild mammal.

Officers attended the scene and arrested two men.

McDonald, of Stokesley, and Langan, of Great Ayton were subsequently charged with the offence of hunting a wild mammal with a dog and breaching Covid-19 restrictions.

McDonald was also charged with running a red light.

The pair appeared at York Magistrates' Court on Tuesday where they both denied the poaching offence, but pleaded guilty to breaching coronavirus legislation.

McDonald also pleaded guilty to the road traffic offence.

They will stand trial at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on September 13.

Both men were granted unconditional bail.
