Two of three dogs stolen from East Yorkshire village are found dumped in Lancashire - but the youngest is still missing

Two springer spaniels stolen by sophisticated thieves who broken into their secure kennels in an East Yorkshire village have been found - but a third remains missing.

Trained gundogs Robbie, Jazz and Keedy were taken from Keith and Liz Fetches' farm off Main Street in Thornholme, between Driffield and Bridlington, earlier this month.

The thieves had to pass the window of the bedroom where the couple were sleeping to reach the secure kennel enclosure. A fourth dog was left behind.

The Fetches feared that Robbie and Jazz, who are aged 14 and nine and retired, would be dumped as they are too old for sale or breeding.

Now Humberside Police have revealed that the elder dogs were found dumped in Wigan and Preston, and Keedy, who is only two years old, is thought to still be in the Lancashire area.

The elderly couple's neighbour Jo Milnes said that Robbie and Jazz were in good health and were traced through their microchips.

Robbie, who is partially deaf and only has one eye, was handed into a veterinary surgery in Wigan and Jazz was found on a street in Preston by a man who had seen a Facebook appeal and contacted Jo.

Humberside Police said: "We are pleased to say that two of three spaniels reported stolen have been located, although one still remains missing.

"We are appealing for help to locate the remaining white and liver springer spaniel that was reported as stolen from a farm at Thornholme near Burton Agnes overnight between 11pm on Thursday 11 and 6am on Friday 12 February 2021.

"The dog is described as a two-year-old male, liver and white in colour with one black paw and answers to the name “Keedy”.

"These three dogs were chipped and were reported as taken from an outside kennel on the farm.

"We believe that Keedi could possibly be in/around the areas of Manchester, Wigan or Preston.

"We have conducted enquiries in the area and had a number of lines of enquiry which have not yet led to the recovery of the third missing dog, Keedy.

"We are now appealing for anyone with any information that would lead us to reunite the remaining missing dog with their elderly owner, who is naturally very distressed and worried about them.

"If anyone has any information, no matter how small please call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 76 of 12 February 2021."
