Two year old girl fighting for life in hospital after 'incident' in Yorkshire house

A two-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after an "incident" in a house that saw a 26-year-old man arrested.

The tot was rushed to hospital after emergency services flocked to the terraced house in Redcar to reports of an injured child on Tuesday morning (November 10).

Police have not said what the man was arrested on suspicion of, but confirmed that he was still in custody and being quizzed by officers on Wednesday evening.

Two road ambulance crews and an air ambulance rushed to the scene to help the stricken toddler.

And forensic officers have been combing the scene as police vehicles remained stationed at the house throughout today.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "The child is receiving treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

"Officers are continuing with their inquiries into the circumstances around how the child came about her injuries.

"A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and he remains in police custody."
