Vandals slash police van's tyre in Sheffield as officers 'working harder than ever'

Vandals caused "significant damage" to a police van after slashing one of its tyres in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident of criminal damage, which took place in Hazlebarrow Road in the Jordanthorpe area, just after 6pm on Thursday, March 26.

Officers were investigating an incident and discovered the damage on their return.

Superintendent Cherie Buttle said: “Our officers are working harder than ever to carry out their duties and keep the public safe and this is completely unacceptable behaviour.

“Frontline officers were attending an incident when their vehicle was targeted by vandals, it meant we had to deploy extra resources which is unnecessary and a waste of officer time.

“It is reported that two unknown men were in the area on an electric powered bike at the time, if you know who these men are or have any information about what happened, please do contact us.
