Women charged with arson following fire at Sheffield Cathedral

A woman has been charged with arson following a fire inside Sheffield Cathedral on May 14.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 6:30pm after South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue reported that a window had been smashed at the rear of the building.

Bags of clothing were found to have been set alight inside the Cathedral.

Initial enquiries led officers to arrest 40-year-old Nicola Law on suspicion of arson and burglary.

Following her arrest, Law has also been accused of spitting at two police officers while in custody.

Law, of no fixed address, was charged on May 15 with arson and recklessness endangerment, burglary, and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
