Doncaster B&M store's food department closed over 'rodent' issue

Doncaster Council have confirmed that the food section of the chain's branch at Thorne Road retail park is currently closed while the problem is dealt with.

Peter Dale, the council's director for Regeneration and Environment, said: “Our Environmental Health team are currently working with B&M on Thorne Road as they have a rodent issue.

"They have voluntarily stopped the sale of food but the store does remain open.

"We will continue to work with the store and monitor the treatment process to ensure that the issue is addressed.”

One shopper said the food department was closed yesterday afternoon.

The witness, who declined to be named, said: "They had to remove all food and drinks and freezer food. They put a notice up saying it was due to a refurb."

A spokesman for B&M, said: “Our store on Thorne Road is open and fully trading."

It is not the first time the chain has had problems with rodents at one of its Doncaster stores.

Last year, a plague of rats was filmed in a car park outside the chain's branch in Friarsgate, Doncaster.
