Doncaster fire causes rail disruption

Delays are expected to trains travelling through the Hexthorpe area of Doncaster today as more than 40 firefighters tackle a fire close to the tracks.

Crews manning five fire engines and an aerial platform are fighting a blaze in a single storey industrial building in Albion Terrace.

There have been no casualties but surrounding premises have been evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters were called to the incident just after 8.10am today and are expected to be in attendance for most of the day.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire may cause some disruption to train travel through the Doncaster area, so we urging people to check their routes before travelling.”

Hexthorpe residents are being advised to keep windows and doors closed.
