Double inquiry after paedophile park rape horror

The Government has begun two investigations after a dangerous teenage paedophile was convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl whilst on probation.

Opemipo Jaji, 18, had just left his probation officer when he spotted the girl going home from school on a bus, followed her and dragged her into a park where she was subjected to a three-hour ordeal.

Jaji, of Edmonton, north London, is facing a life term when he is sentenced on June 7 after being found guilty of rape.

Prior to the attack, he had been given an 18-month supervision order for making indecent images of children, and a year earlier had sexually assaulted and robbed a 12-year-old girl. Later, he was given a 10-month detention and training order which he breached.

The Probation Service said a multi-agency public protection arrangement serious case review was under way, while the Ministry of Justice confirmed that a further review will examine the 11-week period of supervision after his conviction for possession of indecent images of children.
