Downton Abbey star backs rural broadband drive

RURAL broadband campaigners have received the backing of television star Hugh Bonneville as they push to improve internet access to the countryside.

Mr Bonneville, famous for playing the Earl of Grantham in ITV drama Downton Abbey, is supporting the Country Land and Business Association’s (CLA) week-long national road show called Can’t Get Online.

The Can’t Get Online tour will arrive in Yorkshire on November 4 and will feature IT expert John Popham getting residents to sign a petition calling on the Government to increase the minimum broadband speed to 5Mbps.
