Driver injured after lorry struck tree near Bedale

A LORRY driver was  injured after the heavy goods vehicle he was driving left the road and struck a tree near Bedale, North Yorkshire, this morning.

Fire crews from Bedale, Masham and Ripon were called to the scene of the accident on the A684 between Bedale and Crakehall just before 4am today. (Tues Feb 20)

Crews freed the driver, who was trapped in the cab.

A North Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said: " The driver was left in the hands of the ambulance service and transported to hospital via road."
