Emergency surgery for singer Andre after gigs postponed

Singer and reality TV regular Peter Andre has been discharged from hospital after an emergency operation.

The former chart star, who had viral meningitis three years ago, had to postpone two gigs over the weekend after being taken to hospital "in excruciating pain".

He was due to play the Plymouth Pavilions on Friday night and Butlins in Minehead, Somerset, on Saturday, but was forced to disappoint his fans.

In a statement on his website, it was confirmed the Butlins concert would go ahead last night while The Plymouth Pavilions gig was rescheduled to December 21.

"All other tour dates will be unaffected and will run to schedule," the statement said.

"Peter would like to thank every-one for their support and their messages...

"We apologise to all of Peter's fans and appreciate their support and understanding."

Andre's manager Claire Powell said the singer had been "terribly disappointed" that he was unable to perform at Friday's sold-out opening night after being "rushed to hospital in excruciating

pain."

It has not been revealed why surgery was required.

Andre is best known for his marriage to glamour girl Katie Price, which ended last year.

They have two children together – Junior, four, and Princess Tiaamii, two – alongside Price's son Harvey with footballer Dwight Yorke.
