The Topping Pie Company’s range of handcrafted pork pies are set to be stocked by the ocado.com for the first time.

It was current managing director Roger Topping’s father who set up the family firm in 1961, originally as a small butchers shop, but Mr Topping’s wife Maggie who introduced pies to the shop counter, made using her own recipes. When they proved popular, the business branched out and their pies have gone on to win industry awards.

On being listed as a supplier with ocado, Mr Topping’s son, Matthew Topping, the company’s sales director, said: “Online is the fastest growing channel in grocery and we’re delighted to be listed by one of the key players in this marketplace with our premium pork pies. We are certain the supermarket’s discerning customers will enjoy our pies which combine top quality pork with perfect pastry.”

Using British Red Tractor meat from farms in Yorkshire and further afield, the five pies in the Toppings’ range are the Huntsman, Chilli Pork Pie, Scrumpy, the Gold Great Taste Award-winning Pork Pie and the Yorkshire Farmers pie.

Sophie Francis, buying manager at ocado.com, added: “Ocado customers like being able to have delicious products that you would usually have to head to a farmer’s market to find delivered right to their table - they are going to love these delicious pork pies from Toppings.”
