Double show spectacular on offer this weekend

Show season continues apace this weekend with two local events lined up to encourage people to get out and about in the prolonged warm weather.

It is an extra special year for Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show. Tomorrow’s event is the show’s 100th instalment and it will featured a range of entertainment and displays which are sure to draw crowds.

Among a busy schedule is a heavy horse working display, terrier racing, a vintage vehicle parade, hounds, private driving, a dog agility display and a fire and rescue demonstration.

The show will take place in land off the road between Langthrope and Skelton on Ure and the show field will be signposted on the day from all directions entering Boroughbridge.

Today sees the 115th Bishop Wilton Show and Craft Fair held in fields lent by Wilton Lodge Farms. The village near Stamford Bridge will be hosting an annual event which features pony rides courtesy of The Purple Pig Company, displays by the Hummanby Terrier Racing Team and Ridgeside Falconry, a children’s entertainer, Ebor Morris Dancers, a parade by the Middleton Hounds and Hunsley Beagles and a tug of war.

The ancient woodland crafts will be demonstrated by Richard Law of Flying Shavings and a musical backdrop will be provides by Driffield Silver Band.
