wins Welsh
accolade

The East Yorkshire student has been picked ahead of her Welsh peers to receive the annual accolade after impressing during a BSc degree in Agriculture, Conservation and Environment.

The Bangor University student will be presented with the Richard Phillips Agricultural Student at the Royal Welsh Show on Monday, July 21.

Miss Pratt who has just completed her degree at the end her fourth year, spent a year of her course working at Eurofins Agroscience Services in Bishop Burton and has been rewarded for her good work with a job as an assistant agronomist at the firm.

The former Driffield School pupil said: “I was thrilled to hear that I am to receive this award, and what an honour to be able to represent Bangor University.

“I have real enthusiasm and interest of farming and conservation, and I hope that by winning the award more youngsters, particularly girls, will be encouraged to take up a career in agriculture.”

Professor Morag McDonald, head of Bangor University’s School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography, said she was a deserving winner. “She approached her studies in a highly mature manner, ensuring that she gained insight to the full spectrum of agricultural, environmental and industrial aspects to her field of study. Her endeavours were rewarded by gaining graduate employment.”
