Local farmer joins race for national role

North Yorkshire farmer Rosey Dunn has been confirmed as a nominee for the positions of both vice and deputy president of the National Farmers’ Union (NFU).

The organisation, which represents 55,000 farmers in the UK, has now revealed the shortlist of candidates standing in its officeholder elections which take place at the NFU annual meeting on February 26.

A first generation farmer in Stockton-on-the-Forest near York, Mrs Dunn runs a mixed operation with sheep, a beef herd and arable and currently serves as the NFU’s regional board chairman in the North East.

She pledged: “I am committed to working with all sectors to deliver a strong united voice for the industry.”

A new county adviser has joined the organisation’s North East branch this month. The NFU’s former national poultry adviser Chris Dickinson replaces Rob Lea as the first point of contact for farmers based over a large area, from Skipton in the West to Goole in the East and the whole of South and West Yorkshire.
