The first week of Spring will bring with it some warmer weather across Yorkshire as we finally look set to wave winter goodbye - but Easter weekend is looking a little wet.

After months of rain, floods and snow across the county, the Met Office has forecast dry and settled conditions for much of the week ahead in Yorkshire, and even Easter will get off to a fine start on Good Friday.

Much of the county was bathed in sunshine on Sunday as we enjoyed one of the first days of warmer weather in 2016... and that looks set to continue for the most part of this week.

Some wetter weather is likely on Thursday, but it is only expected to be a blip and last just the one day as experts predict a sunny Good Friday and a pleasant start to Easter weekend with temperatures of 12 degrees.

Unfortunately, the long-term forecast for Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday is for mixed weather with some cloud and occasional rain across all three days.

A Met Office expert said: "A drier and brighter week is expected before rain arrives late on Friday and during Saturday. The rest of the Easter period and the following week are likely to be unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed by some dry and bright interludes. It is also expected to become windy with gales at times, with the wettest and windiest conditions probably occurring in the west and northwest. Temperatures are expected to vary around average, best generally in the east, often rather cold in the west and northwest.

Sunday evening:

Any light showers dying away then dry just about everywhere. Patchy cloud and clear spells, and with light winds it will turn chilly in places by dawn. Perhaps also the odd patch of mist, fog or low cloud by dawn. Minimum Temperature 2 °C.
