Television cameras turn up to film Wolds wildlife artist at work

Wildlife artist Robert Fuller, who writes the One Pair of Eyes column each month for Country Week, and the Kiplingcotes Derby, reckoned to be the oldest annual horse race in the English sporting calendar dating back to the 1500s, are among the local features to be included.

Television crews from the popular countryside programme spent two days last week filming at special locations across the area.

“They spent the day looking for wildlife on the Wolds with me,” said Robert Fuller whose gallery is in Thixendale.

“They wanted to find out how I get inspiration for my paintings.

“I took them to see some hares, barn owls and a curious wildlife bridge near the Derwent River where I have been watching animals and birds as they cross a tributary.

“It was great fun and I think the presenter, Julia Bradbury, was impressed by how beautiful the Wolds are.”

Countryfile is also featuring the coast, and Matt Baker takes himself off to Bempton Cliffs to see the start of the sea bird breeding season, and also to Flamborough Head.
