Mr Vacher said there are people on hand to answer any queries regarding applications and advised that a good starting point for was to take advice from past scholars.
Those accepted onto 2017 scholarships will receive an increased bursary amount for travel and subsistence expenses, he said.

“Anyone aged between 22-45 is encouraged to apply, with a pre-requisite that you must work within the United Kingdom farming, food, horticulture, rural and associated industries or are in a position to influence those industries.”
Previous recipients of Nuffield scholarships include Doncaster farmer Richard Hinchcliffe, Boroughbridge farm manager Richard Pennock and Lincolnshire crops grower Robert Moore,
Mr Vacher said Nuffield is looking for applicants who have an established career and can demonstrate a passion for the industry they work in, and that this can be anyone ranging from the managing director of an animal feed business, an agronomist or a progressive farmer to professionals or those involved in the food chain.
