Yorkshire weather: Signs of spring but frost still a possibility

Daffodils are shooting up, lambs are in the fields and the weather is almost impossible to guess. Yes, spring is definitely breaking through.

The next week is offering more of the same with showers, spells of sunshine and possible overnight frosts to keep gardeners on their toes.

Temperatures could hit double figures during the week when the sun breaks out from behind the clouds, but they could plummet below zero when the sun goes down.

Mostly dry, bright start. Band of rain, locally heavy, soon moving east followed by a rather cloudy and showery afternoon. The showers becoming more confined to the south by evening, with some clearer periods developing. Breezier for a time. Maximum temperature 8C.

Tonight

Clear periods overnight will allow a patchy frost to develop. Perhaps cloudier across the Pennines and later with a few showers. Minimum temperature 1C.

Monday

Occasional showers, perhaps with the odd one on the heavy side, but also some sunny intervals. Mostly light winds. Maximum temperature 9C.

Tuesday

Chilly start. Dry, bright but turning cloudy with rain later.

Wednesday

Cloudy, damp start, soon followed by drier, brighter conditions. Windy.

Thursday

Remaining breezy, further rain likely at times.
