I AM a member of Frack Free Ryedale and Frack Free North Yorkshire. In my letter (The Yorkshire Post, February 27), I suggested it was about time Third Energy, Ineos and the army of PR firms they employ start to be truthful about fracking.

A few days later, a key lobbyist for the fracking industry, Ken Cronin, of UKOOG, leaped to the frackers’ defence with a letter published, on March 6, in an attempt to cast doubt on the clear evidence against fracking.

UKOOG’s sole purpose is to promote the interests of the UK fracking firms and to try to discredit the literally hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific papers that prove fracking is a risk to our environment and health.

Last week, the Australian state of Victoria approved a state-wide ban on fracking.

So should we believe the spin from the fossil fuel-funded lobbyists or listen to the vast amount of evidence from the scientific community that demonstrates fracking is inherently risky, a view which is shared with the farming community in Victoria and the vast majority of the public in Yorkshire who oppose fracking?

I know which side I choose!
