From: Tony Armitage, Fulwith Road, Harrogate.

I HAVE to disagree with Tanya Burnett (The Yorkshire Post, November 5) who objects on two grounds to the proposed re-routing of the footpath to the rear of the Harrogate Arms. This building has been in distress for many years, has little to commend its present appearance and the rear of the building will no doubt be improved considerably if the permission if granted.

The RHS has made massive improvements to Harlow Carr over many years to the enjoyment of the public generally.

The additional car parking spaces, and linking footpaths which they have created, are the product of their success, are free to use and are not restricted to the use of their members.

The RHS is to be congratulated and encouraged to continue its improvements to the area.

I hope permission is
granted to re-route the footpath and long may the RHS succeed in providing facilities which the public obviously want and
enjoy.
