Ex-Emmerdale actor faces child sex attack claim

West Yorkshire Police are investigating historic sex assault allegations that a former Emmerdale actor raped a 13-year-old boy in the 1970s.

A man has claimed that he was raped at the star’s home as a teenager, claiming that the celebrity approached him and asked him if he wanted to accompany him to a party full of famous people during the early 1970s.

The man, who claims to have never before spoken of the incident, is reported to have given lengthy statements to police detectives regarding the alleged sex attack.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We have received an allegation of child sexual offences from the 1970s.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

The news comes after soap star William Roache, who has played Ken Barlow in Coronation Street
for six decades, was charged with sexually assaulting four girls – the youngest aged 11 or 12 – during the 1960s.

Roache has strenuously denied all the allegations.
