Farm shop's winning ways

Owner Stuart Waind at his Marton Manor farm shop and tea rooms at Sewerby, near Bridlington, which won the best start-up business accolade at the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce Bridlington and Wolds Business Awards ceremony. The farm shop and tearooms opened five months ago.

Judges said the standard of entries this year was "exceptionally high". Fish & Chips @ 149, Bridlington netted Best Small Business. Overall Business of the Year went to Deep Sea Electronics, Hunmanby.

Mr Waind, the third generation in his family to farm at Marton Manor, runs the farm shop with wife Jane, who with two other bakers have been kept busy producing home-made cakes. The shop sells potatoes, free range eggs and rare breed pork produced on the farm as well as other locally-sourced products.
