Four held over Malton cricket pavilion blaze

POLICE have arrested four people in connection with a fire which destroyed a cricket pavilion in Malton during the early hours on Wednesday.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at Malton and Old Malton Cricket Club, on Old Malton Road, at about 1am.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Fire investigators quickly established the fire had been started deliberately and called for police assistance.

“Three males aged 30, 26 and 17, and a 17-year-old girl, were arrested in the nearby area at around 2am. Following questioning, the two 17-year-olds were released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

He added: “The two men remain in custody at this time.”
