Giants of surfing world ready to make waves
Over a hundred of the best surfers in the country will be in the town for the event which last year attracted over 14,000 people and which it is hoped this year will bring a welcome late season boost to the local economy.
The event highlights the North Bay beach and surrounding area as one of the best surfing locations in the UK.

Hide AdLocal surfers will also join the professionals to compete for the Scarborough Championship title.
Dave Reed, CEO of event organiser UK Pro Surf, said the surfing event was expected to boost the local economy.
He said: “Based on the 2011 and 2012 events, we’re predicting that this year’s event could bring as much as £400,000-worth of business to Scarborough.
“We are delighted to be working again with Scarborough Borough Council and our sponsor partners to bring our national Pro Surf Tour to Scarborough. Our professional surfers are looking forward to showcasing their talents to the local community.”

Hide AdJanet Deacon, Welcome to Yorkshire’s area director for North Yorkshire, said yesterday: “We are delighted that Scarborough is hosting the UK Pro Surf Tour for the third year.
“Scarborough is now becoming one of the UK’s top destinations for surfing and with over 100 of the UK’s best surfers set to descend on the town, as well as BMX riders, it should be a superb weekend.”
The event will also host some of the UK’s top professional mountain bikers in a series of freestyle shows. There is a VW camper van display on the Sunday and local bands will perform on the Surf Music Stage in the North Bay. The event runs from 10.30am on Saturday October 5 until 5pm on Sunday.
