Mr Don said: “We had telephone bidders from all over the world and we had representatives of galleries in London. We are absolutely delighted with how the sale went.”
Also sold was a diary from 1772-73, believed to have been written by a Yorkshire textile trader. It was found in a builder’s yard in Chapel Allerton, Leeds but the author is unknown. It sold for around £800 to a private buyer from Yorkshire.
